How much data does a digital nomad need per month?
It depends on how you work, so start from your own use. Your phone shows the mobile data you used: on iPhone in Settings › Mobile Service (or Cellular), on Android in the network settings. Video calls, cloud backups and hotspot use the most data.
Then pick the format:
- 5 GB for 30 days if you mostly work on Wi-Fi and use mobile data for maps and messages.
- 10 or 20 GB for 30 days if you rely on mobile data every day.
- Unlimited for 30 days, with 2 GB per day at full speed, then reduced speed until the next day: at most 60 GB at full speed over 30 days.
You can add data later without changing eSIM: data top-ups are added to the eSIM already on your phone, with nothing to install again.

Can I stay for months on a travel eSIM?
A travel eSIM works in roaming and is built for trips. It has no local number, and it does not make you a local subscriber. For a long stay with a residence permit, a local SIM in your name is the usual solution, and local laws apply.
What changes on long stays:
- Thailand: from 16 May 2026, foreigners can hold at most 3 local SIMs per operator, registered in person with a passport. New local lines also need a live face check, in place from 18 August 2025. Whether these rules apply to roaming eSIMs is not confirmed.
- Philippines: a local tourist SIM is valid 30 days, and longer only with a visa extension.
- Indonesia: a foreign phone used with a local SIM needs IMEI registration, with 90 days of network access for tourists. Phones in roaming with a foreign SIM are exempt.
We do not publish a maximum stay per country for our eSIMs. If you plan to use one eSIM for several months in one country, ask support before you buy, at [email protected]. Email replies within 12 hours, 7 days a week, including help with installing and activating your eSIM.
How do I keep the same eSIM for the next month?
Buy a data top-up in My eSIMs: data top-ups are added to the eSIM already on your phone, with nothing to install again. A data top-up is paid like any plan, at its exact price in crypto. For a new eSIM, the validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a network in your destination.
When you move to another country, buy that country's eSIM, or use the Global eSIM for a multi-country route. Phones store several eSIMs: an iPhone can manage eight or more, and iPhone 13 and later models can use two eSIMs at once. Keep your home SIM switched on for calls and bank codes: our eSIMs are data only.
How do I pay in USDT on TRC-20?
Pick a plan, then choose USDT and the Tron (TRC-20) network. At checkout, you pay the exact price of your order in crypto, with no minimum and no top-up. The payment page shows the exact USDT amount, the Tron address with its QR code and a 30-minute countdown. Send that exact amount in one transfer. A USDT payment on Tron is usually confirmed in about 1 minute, after 20 confirmations. Then the eSIM is bought and its QR code appears in My eSIMs.
The network fee is paid by the sender, on top of the price. On a very small order, it can be large compared with the price. For a route through several countries, put several eSIMs in one order to pay one network fee. The cart allows up to 10 different plans per order, and up to 10 eSIMs of each plan. Step by step: how to buy an eSIM with USDT. Other coins: pay with crypto.
Will I get 5G and hotspot?
5G is not confirmed per country yet: expect 4G/LTE or better, and 5G only where the network allows it in roaming. We have not tested it destination by destination.
The hotspot rule of each plan is not published yet. If you plan to work from a laptop on your phone's connection, ask support before you buy. Do not rely on hotspot until support confirms it for your plan. How other sellers handle it: eSIM hotspot rules.
eSIM for digital nomads in Southeast Asia: FAQ
Which eSIM plan should I buy for a month in Thailand?
A 30-day plan of 5, 10 or 20 GB. eSIMwithCrypto does not sell a 30-day plan without a data limit in Thailand; its 7-day unlimited plan gives 2 GB per day at full speed, then reduced speed until the next day. The best value per GB is 20 GB · 30 days for $11.99. If you run out, add a data top-up to the same eSIM.
Is there a 30-day unlimited eSIM for Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines or Singapore? (2 GB/day at full speed, then reduced speed)
Yes. eSIMwithCrypto sells unlimited plans for 30 days in these four countries, with 2 GB per day at full speed, then reduced speed until the next day. That is at most 60 GB at full speed over 30 days. The plans are data only, paid in crypto with no ID at checkout. Prices: pricing.
Does eSIMwithCrypto cover Malaysia?
Yes, with the Global eSIM, which covers 202 countries and starts at $5.19. It has 1 GB for 7 days and 5, 10 and 20 GB for 30 days. It also has a 7-day unlimited plan, with 2 GB per day at full speed. There is no local Malaysia plan.
Can I use a travel eSIM for six months in Bali?
It is built for trips, not for residence. Indonesia exempts phones in roaming with a foreign SIM from IMEI registration, but we do not publish a maximum stay per country for our eSIMs. For several months, ask support before you buy. With a residence permit, a local SIM in your name is the usual solution.
Can I pay for a nomad eSIM in USDT on TRC-20?
Yes. eSIMwithCrypto accepts USDT on Tron (TRC-20) and Ethereum (ERC-20), at the same dollar price as other coins, with no ID at checkout. A TRC-20 payment is usually confirmed in about 1 minute. At checkout, you pay the exact price of your order in crypto, with no minimum and no top-up.
Do I get a local phone number?
No. Every eSIMwithCrypto plan is data only: no phone number, no calls and no SMS. Keep your home SIM switched on in dual SIM for calls, bank codes (2FA) and WhatsApp registration. Messaging and video apps work over the eSIM's data.
Can I use the eSIM as a hotspot for my laptop?
Ask support first: the hotspot rule of each plan is not published yet. Do not rely on hotspot for work until support confirms it for your plan and country. An installed eSIM is not refundable, so ask before you buy.
How do I add data without changing eSIM?
Buy a data top-up in My eSIMs and pay its exact price in crypto: data top-ups are added to the eSIM already on your phone, with nothing to install again. The data is added once the payment is confirmed. If your balance holds credits, they are used first and you pay only the missing amount.
