## How do I pay for an eSIM with Bitcoin (BTC)?

Six steps, from choosing a plan to an eSIM on your phone.

1. **Choose your eSIM** — Find your destination on the destinations page, or compare every plan on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and the same in every coin.
2. **Choose BTC on Bitcoin (on-chain)** — At checkout, pick BTC on Bitcoin (on-chain). The payment page shows the exact amount of your order and a 30-minute countdown. Our address is a Bitcoin address starting with bc1, 1 or 3.
3. **Send the exact amount** — Send the exact amount, in one transfer, from your wallet or your exchange. On the withdrawal screen of your exchange, choose the Bitcoin network. Do not choose Lightning, or a BTC token on another network such as BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20).
4. **Click “I’ve sent the payment”** — Click it once your wallet has sent the payment. Your payment is matched to your order by its exact amount: no transaction ID to paste, nothing else to send us.
5. **Wait for 2 confirmations** — Your payment needs 2 confirmations on Bitcoin (on-chain), usually about 20 minutes. The eSIM is then bought.
6. **Install your eSIM** — Scan the QR code in My eSIMs, in the client area, or use a one-tap install button on iPhone with iOS 17.4 or later. Install on Wi-Fi before you leave, then turn on the line and data roaming when you land.

## Which network must I use to send BTC?

Use the Bitcoin network (on-chain) only, and send to the address shown on the payment page. Bitcoin is accepted on-chain only, on the Bitcoin network. Lightning is not accepted.

> **Check the network before you send** Do not pay with Lightning: the payment page shows an on-chain address, not a Lightning invoice. Do not send a BTC token on another network, such as BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20) or wrapped BTC on Ethereum. Do not send Bitcoin Cash (BCH) or another fork of Bitcoin. Do not let your exchange deduct its withdrawal fee from the amount: the exact amount must arrive. Funds sent on another network or in another coin can't be recovered. If you are unsure, ask support before you send, not after.

> **Lightning is not accepted** Send an on-chain Bitcoin transaction. The payment page shows a Bitcoin address, not a Lightning invoice, so a Lightning payment cannot reach it.

## How much does it cost to pay with Bitcoin (BTC)?

eSIMwithCrypto adds no fee for paying with Bitcoin (BTC): you pay the dollar price of the eSIM, the same in every coin. The network fee is paid by the sender, on top of the exact amount. Bitcoin fees depend on the size of the transaction in virtual bytes and on demand for block space, not on the amount sent. Wallets set a fee rate in satoshis per virtual byte (sat/vB): a higher rate is usually confirmed sooner.

We have not measured network fees yet, so we give no figure. Check the live fee before you send: mempool.space, which shows fee estimates in sat/vB from low to high priority, and the withdrawal screen of your exchange. If your exchange takes its withdrawal fee from the amount, add it so that the exact amount arrives. The full breakdown is on [what a crypto payment really costs](https://esimwithcrypto.com/crypto-payment-cost/).

## Which wallet or exchange can I use?

Any wallet or exchange that can send BTC on the Bitcoin network (on-chain) works, with a normal blockchain transfer to the address shown. If your wallet supports Replace-by-Fee (RBF), you can raise the fee of a transaction that waits too long. Check that the amount sent to us stays the same.

On the withdrawal screen of your exchange, choose the Bitcoin network. Do not choose Lightning, or a BTC token on another network such as BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20).

Payment services inside an exchange, such as Binance Pay, are not blockchain transfers, so they are not accepted. Each order is paid on its own, at its exact price: there is no balance to fund first.

## How payment works

1. **Pay the exact price of your order** — There is no minimum and no balance to fund. The cart allows up to 10 different plans per order, and up to 10 eSIMs of each plan. Choose the coin (BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC) and the network: the payment page shows the exact crypto amount, locked for 30 minutes, with a countdown. Credits on your balance, if any, are used first.
2. **Send it to the address shown, on the exact network** — The payment page shows our address for the coin and network you picked, with its QR code: BTC on Bitcoin, USDT on Tron (TRC-20) or Ethereum (ERC-20), USDC on Ethereum (ERC-20), ETH on Ethereum, SOL on Solana, LTC on Litecoin. Send only that coin on that network: funds sent on another network or in another coin can’t be recovered. The network fee comes on top of the price.
3. **Send the exact amount in one transfer, then click “I’ve sent the payment”** — Each order has its own exact amount, down to the last decimals: that is how we find your payment and link it to your order.
4. **Wait for the network confirmations** — Your payment is confirmed once the network has confirmed the transaction. Usual times:
5. **Your eSIM appears in My eSIMs** — Once the payment is checked, the eSIM is bought and its QR code appears in My eSIMs, usually a few minutes after the payment is confirmed on the blockchain. Install it on Wi-Fi before you leave.

| Crypto | Network | Confirmations | Usual time |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Bitcoin (BTC) | Bitcoin | 2 | ≈ 20 min |
| Tether (USDT) | Tron (TRC-20) | 20 | ≈ 1 min |
| Tether (USDT) | Ethereum (ERC-20) | 12 | ≈ 5 min |
| USD Coin (USDC) | Ethereum (ERC-20) | 12 | ≈ 5 min |
| Ethereum (ETH) | Ethereum | 12 | ≈ 5 min |
| Solana (SOL) | Solana | 1 | ≈ 1 min |
| Litecoin (LTC) | Litecoin | 6 | ≈ 15 min |

## What else should I check when paying with Bitcoin (BTC)?

### Do you ask for ID when I pay with Bitcoin (BTC)?

No. eSIMwithCrypto asks for no ID, no selfie and no documents. You pay the exact price of your order in BTC on Bitcoin (on-chain), with no minimum. Your account is a 16-digit account number created at payment, with no email needed. Email is optional, for receipts, reminders and account recovery.

### How many confirmations does a Bitcoin (BTC) payment need?

2 on Bitcoin (on-chain), usually about 20 minutes. Other coins: 2 confirmations for BTC, 20 for USDT on TRC-20, 12 for ETH and ERC-20 tokens, 1 for SOL and 6 for LTC. In time, that is about 1 minute for SOL and USDT TRC-20, 5 minutes for ETH and ERC-20 tokens, 15 minutes for LTC and 20 minutes for BTC.

### What happens if I send BTC on the wrong network?

The payment does not pay your order: funds sent on another network or in another coin can't be recovered. Bitcoin is accepted on-chain only, on the Bitcoin network. Lightning is not accepted. Compare the network in your wallet or exchange with the payment page before you confirm. If you are unsure, write to support@esimwithcrypto.com before you send.

### Does the BTC price change while I pay?

Not for 30 minutes. Prices are in US dollars: the payment page converts the price into BTC, then locks the amount and the rate. Send the exact amount within that time. Once the payment is confirmed, your eSIM is bought at its dollar price, so later moves of the BTC price do not change it.

### Is there a minimum BTC payment?

No. At checkout, you pay the exact price of your order in crypto, with no minimum and no top-up, even for a plan at $0.89. The network fee is paid by the sender, on top of the price. On a very small order, it can be large compared with the price: check the live fee before you send, or put several eSIMs in one order.

### Can I get a refund in BTC?

No. Payments are not paid back in crypto. The refund rule is: an eSIM that is not installed, or that we cannot deliver, is credited back to your balance; an installed eSIM is not refundable. Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new eSIMs and top-ups, but it is not refundable. The [refunds page](https://esimwithcrypto.com/refunds/) explains the rules in full.

### Is a BTC payment private?

Crypto transfers are recorded on public blockchains, and mobile networks process device and connection information. An eSIM does not encrypt internet traffic. Read the [privacy policy](https://esimwithcrypto.com/privacy/) for the records processed by this service.

### Can I pay for an eSIM with Bitcoin Lightning?

No. eSIMwithCrypto accepts on-chain Bitcoin only, credited after 2 confirmations, usually in about 20 minutes. The payment page shows a Bitcoin address, not a Lightning invoice. For a fast credit, USDT on Tron (TRC-20) and SOL usually take about 1 minute. Step by step: [buy an eSIM with Bitcoin](https://esimwithcrypto.com/guides/buy-esim-with-bitcoin/).

### Why is my Bitcoin payment taking long?

Usually because its fee rate is low for the current demand. Two confirmations take about 20 minutes on average, but a low-fee transaction can wait longer before the first one. If your wallet supports Replace-by-Fee (RBF), raise the fee and keep the amount sent to us unchanged.

### Can I pay with Bitcoin from an exchange?

Yes, with a normal on-chain withdrawal on the Bitcoin network. Do not choose Lightning or a BTC token on another network. Exchanges can take some time to send a withdrawal. Start it soon after you open the payment page: the BTC amount is locked for 30 minutes.
